Brief Answer:
Ear examination is recommended before any treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Ear examination is recommended before any treatment.

2. This is because there can be many reasons for liquid flowing from rhd ear.

3. Common causes are liquefied ear wax, infection in the outer ear canal (including fungal infections ), ear drum perforations and so on.

4. Treatment for each of these is different.

5. The color , frequency, consistency, smell of the discharge, relation to colds, hearing levels are some of the important factors to differentiate the problems. If he is diabetic, do not delay his ear examination by an ENT Specialist.

6. Hence you must get his ears examined first. You can share the findings here.

I hope that I have answered your query . If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
