Question: My mother aged 68 years, has arthritis for last 13 years. In January, 2014, she suddenly had high BP 200(upper) & 120 ( lower) but now normal on medication. She also has blood sugar but normal with medicine. She was given Zapiz 0.25 mg for 15 days for sleeping and then and melzap for anti-anxiety. Since 20th Feb., 2014 she has developed uncontrolled shaking of upper body forward & backward while sitting and shaking of the body on either foot while standing. Kindly tell me the reason and available treatments.

Brief Answer: physician review investigation and treatment Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome to healthcare Magic! Such abnormal movements may be due to two reasons in the elderly patients 1. Any illness affecting Brain like cerebrovascular event or a disorder like Parkinson's. 2. She might have built up the sedative drug levels in her body that is producing symptoms. If so then make the antianxiety tab on alternate days for 5 days and then stop. In either case you should review her with a neurologist or a XXXXXXX physician, she may need an MRI of brain and blood investigations metabolic panel to get more insight in the problem. I hope the advise would be informative and useful for you. Take Care!
