Suggest Treatment For Accidental Consumption Of Desitin By Child
A very small amount won't harm her
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
desitin is not supposed to cause serious trouble unless the amount she swallowed is big. Licking her fingers after she inserted them in the ointment shouldn't be harmful. Small amounts of desitin may have a laxative effect (loose stools).
Larger quantities may cause vomiting, persistent diarrhea and perhaps even choking.
If you're absolutely certain that she only swallowed a very small quantity then you can give her some water just in case some ointment got stuck somewhere in her throat in order to avoid inhaling it.
If she has symptoms, she should definitely be examined by a doctor.
In any case, calling your local poison center is the appropriate first action always.
