Suggest Treatment For Accommodative Esotropia In An Elderly Person
crossed eyes
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Accomodation is the process by which our eyes move together to focus on near or far objects. This involves muscles and nerves.
Esotropia is what is commonly called crossed eyes.
Accomodative esotropia is fairly common and occurs in about 1% of children. It is usually treated with glasses.
It happens when one of the eyes does not move appropriately to focus with the other eye.
Make sure the child sees an ophthalmologist that is skilled in treating this condition. The condition must be treated by a specialist and the glasses must be worn all the time to treat the condition.
Please see that the child gets to see an M.D. ophthalmologist as soon as possible.

Brief Answer:
surgery
Detailed Answer:
If the glasses do not correct the problem then sometimes a surgery is required to adjust the muscles that move the eyes to get them into proper alignment. Surgery does not necessarily remove the need for glasses.
