Question: I am 24 yo. I have a history of acne and pimples since I was 14-15 yo. They are still prevalent and this has also roughened up the texture of my skin. I wanted to get them treated and also have some treatment for skin texture. Please note here, that this is a hereditary problem and my dad also use to suffer from acne.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM
Thanks for contacting us.
From your history i gather that you are still experiencing active breakouts of pimples.

Acne typically starts with puberty and goes on till the early twenties due to hormonal changes, so your condition as well should improve in a couple of years. In the meantime, it is important for you to take care of the problem. It is recurrent and one time treatment may not help. continuous pimples lead to scarring, spots and rough skin.

Since you are not on any active treatment I would advise you to start a course of antibiotics for acne along with clindamycin + adapalene gel at night on pimples and scars. Get it looked at by a dermatologist to assess the degree of acne and scarring and give the adequate treatment. It will need to be continued as advised.
Use an oil free face wash containing glycolic or salicylic acids twice daily. Do not scrub.
Also check if you have a dandruff problem as this can aggravate acne on forehead face, chest, etc.
The rough skin, pits and scars can be treated by various procedures like peels, dermabrasion, dermaroller, once your active acne is better. This will be advised by your dermatologist after observing your improvement.
Take care to avoid pollution, stress, excessive sun exposure. Eat healthy and drink lot of fluids.
Also do mention if you have any other medical conditions.
Hope this helps. Feel free to get back to me regarding any doubts or clarifications.
You may also send in an image of the acne if you wish.
Have a nice day.
