Suggest Treatment For Acne On Face And Hirsutism
Question: Hi.. My girlfriend suffers from acne and hirsuitism.. A test called DHEAS is a on the higher side. 691 to be precise... Rest all reports are normal ( LH , FSH , PRL, Testosterone) and the USG Pelvis is normal.. She is on OCP ( Femlon) for a month.. She has been advised to go for Krimson 35... Is krimson 35 as effective as Femlon for contraception.. and how must she convert from femlon to krimson35...And if she starts a course of Krimson 35 then what precautions need to be taken for sexual intercourse thanks

In my opinion DHEAS is a potent androgen which is mostly secreted from adrenal gland.So I suggest you to undergo evaluation of adrenal gland with a endocrinologist because adrenal gland is the source of DHEAS in the body.
With excess DHEAS there will be excess facial hair growth,irregular periods,acne and
hirsutism.
Femlon is a low dose OCP and krimson 35 is a high dose of ocp in combination with estrogen and cyproterone acetate.
It acts as antiandrogen drug and decrease the effects of hirsutism.
You can start of krimson 35 after periods directly in place of new pack of femlon.
No specific precautions are necessary and it works as contraceptive also.

Does Krimson 35 also arrest ovulation and prevent wastage of follicles as happens in pcos? And is krimson 35 as effective as femlon for contraception...
And please tell me if a raised DHEAS is diagnostic/suggestive of pcos??

There is some criteria for diagnosis of PCOS
1.oligo or a anovulatiry cycles
2.clinical and biochemical signs of hyperandrogen
3.polycystic ovaries.
based on this criteria we should have increased testosterone and reversal of FSH and LH ratio.
as per your information you are having normal hormonal profile of above mentioned hormones.
so in my opinion she need to be evaluated for adrenal gland related problems as DHEA is produced only in adrenal gland.
