Suggest Treatment For Acne On The Chin And Jawline Area
Question: My daughter has a break out on her chin, spanning from each corner of her mouth. It has the appearance of acne, but is more like a cyst ( I get these sometimes when stress is high). We have done some additional research and it sounds like "hormonal acne".
She has not had a previous acne problem.
We are wondering about using a topical cortisone cream.
We have access to metronidazole prescription as well. My first question made it seem like there is only one cyst...there are many 10-12

Brief Answer:
Seems to be acne, don't use cortisone cream
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your history and according to me she seems to be having acne.
Acne on the lower part of the face and jaw is mainly due to cosmetics and hormonal changes.
Don't use cortisone cream on these as it is a steroid and can lead to worsening of acne.
Even metronidazole won't be very effective but you can give it a try.

Thank you!
She will discontinue all cosmetics for now. Any other treatments you would suggest?

Welcome!!
Detailed Answer:
Welcome!!
I would recommend her to apply benzoyl peroxide 2.5 percent gel on the affected areas twice daily or adapelene 0.1 percent on the affected areas once at bedtime.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
All the best.
