Suggest Treatment For Acute Hepatitis
Question: HI. I was recently diagnosed with acute hepatitis b. It's been close to six months since I was infected (strongly suspect at least). My HBsAg viral count was less than 100 per ml but still no sign of the protective surface antibodies. Doctor said I am not infectious at this time due to low viral count. Is a low viral count considered a good indicator of clearance?
Brief Answer:
Yes

Hepatitis B infection acquired during childhood most often persists and the individuals usually become chronic carriers. This is because of the immature immune system in children.
On the other hand, adults acquiring hepatitis B infection usually clear the infection because of a mature immune system.
Since you acquired the infection only at 47 years of age, it is very much likely that you will be cleared of the infection.
HBsAg levels less than 100 IU/ml indicates, you are less likely to become a chronic carrier and it is a good indicator of clearance.
