Suggest Treatment For Acute Tonsilitis

Question: I am taking Amkacin 500mg injection for the last 4 days due to acute tonsillitis as prescribed by ENT specialist daily once, i have taken 4 injections already and also taken augmentein 625mg along with metrogyl 400mg twice daily and have taken them to complete 5 days course, could you please let me know is there any minimum course for injections as what is the purpose of taking these injection as augmentein 625mg is already there.

Amikacin mainly for gram negative bacteria.

Hi Sir,
I have gone through your query; and for kind information bacteria are of two types-gram positive and gram negative.
Injection Amikacin is prescribed mainly in the treatment of infections caused by gram-negative bacteria in which augmentin is not effective.
Minimum course of this injection is about five days in most of the cases, it doesn't require for the more than five days.

Thanks for the reply, but i am taking both injection as well as augmentein 625mg together so is it i am been experimenting by the doctor for both kind of bacterias as i have already taken 10 tablets along with 4 injections. Kindly advice with details as i am very confused and is i give gap of more than 24hrs for injection then again redness starts in the right side of tonsils. Please advice in case i need to go for any medical test as well to have the correct line of treatment. I also need your line of treatment with details.

I have gone through your follow up query; and for correct line of treatment, I personally suggests you that you go for throat swab culture and antibiotic sensitivity and the treatment according to the report.

Also suggests you
1. Avoid cold drinks, cold water, ice cream, smoking and alcohol drinking if you have.
2. Hexidine plus hydrogen peroxide mouth gargles two times a day.

Hi Sir,
I have gone through your follow up query; and I personally suggests you that if condition is not improving after the five days treatment of the augmentin and amikacin then better to stop these medicine and go for either higher antibiotic or above mentioned treatment by me.
