Suggest Treatment For Addiction To Internet And Social Networking Sites

Question: Dr. XXXXXXX Thanks for your earlier advice / suggestion. Right now my son is trying to come out of XXXXXXX internet, but some times he openly says that he is not able to stay long without that. But he wants to come out of those and concentrate on studies. Could you please give us some tips - How to get rid of these XXXXXXX internet addictions? Regards,

Internet and XXXXXXX social media addiction is usually considered as behavioral addiction. In the initial stages treatment do not cause much difficulties. But if it goes beyond control it could cause symptoms as in the case of other behavior addictions like gaming, gambling etc

I suggest telephone counseling your son as an initial step. We shall decide about further treatment after proper understanding of the case.

Thanks Doc. We would like to do this. But situation is tricky. Initially, he was not even saying anything on his behaviour. Not wanted to consult any body. But right now he is opening up and telling what he is feeling and his plan to study.
