Suggest Treatment For Allergic Conjunctivitis In Both Eye, Diarrhea And Neck Stiffness After Travelling Abroad

Question: Hi! I am just back from a trip to Thailand where i got sick Wednesday. First I got what I think was pink eye and allergic conjunctivitis in both eyes, followed by what I think is travelers diarrhea ( I have been on a pack for 4 days and my stomach seems a bit better day by day). My neck is really stiff and achy though and my eyes aren't really clearing up with the pink eye ointment and antihistamines. Could I have gotten a more serious disease while I was over there? I was around monkeys...

Hello,

As per your symptoms, the possibility of Infection in the eye and gut are very high.

Monkeys play a little role in the transfer of this infection.

You require oral antibiotics to improve your condition.

I generally prescribe oral medications of Ofloxacin plus Ornidazole and topical antibiotics like Gatifloxacin to my patients with such symptoms.
