Brief Answer:
Alopecia areata

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM...

I can understand your concern for alopecia areata on beard area. It is an autoimmune skin condition of unknown aetiology. Stress and anxiety might precipitate the disease.

I would suggest...

- tacrolimus lotion 0.1% .. Apply twice a day on the patches
- intradermal injection of triamcenolone 10 mg fortnightly ..four sessions
- oral steroids in tappering dose. ..for one month
- levamisole 50 mg daily till the cure
- biotin 10 mg thrice a day for few months
- avoid tension and worries
- have patience
- trim the beard..do not shave

I usually avoid minoxidil on face and beard areas.

You may consult the dermatologist to take intradermal steroid injection.

I hope this would help you.

Thanks.

Thanks doctor for your suggestion and time, I appreciate, but the medicines suggested by you are looks like attacking immunity, tacrolimus, injections, steroids and levamisole are more powerful drugs. I need a solution a bit simpler bcoz i am thinking twice to use minoxidil itself for the reason of side effects even two doctors suggested as i mentioned earlier, getting hai regrowth of weak white hair where i lost hair without use of any above and few of them started becoming blacklor.

Brief Answer:
Alopecia areata

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder. It needs medicines acting on immunological process else it cannot be a good treatment.

I usually give immunomodulator drugs to my patient and get good result.

You may follow without any harm.

Steroid may be taken for short period.

Levamisole is very good immunobooster.

Tacrolimus is also very effective.

I hope you may follow without any worry.

Ok
