Hair loss treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagc

I am Dr. kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have understood it.

You seem to have Androgenetic Alopecia since you have a family history, however, I would like to confirm if you can upload a picture showing the degree and pattern of hair loss. Androgenetic alopecia (AGA), is genetically predetermined patterned hair loss in males and is the most common type of hair loss in males.

It is gradual and can start any time after puberty.

Traditionally, Minoxidil and finasteride have been used for this kind of hair loss. They are US FDA approved.

However, they need to be used regularly, throughout life and are mainly beneficial in arresting further progression of hair loss.

PRP (Platelet rich plasma) is a newer modality for treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia. The beneficial effects of PRP in Androgenetic Alopecia can be attributed to various platelet-derived growth factors causing improvement in the function of hair follicle and promotion of hair growth.

It is safe, cheap, and non-allergic and it appears to be a useful adjunct in the management of AGA. You need to use Minoxidil and finasteride along with PRP.

Finally, Hair transplant is the most effective and long lasting method of hair restoration, where the patients own hair from the occipital region are transplanted to cover the bald patches.

Cost depends on the number of hair follicles that can be harvested from the occiput and is anywhere between 90-110/- Rupee per hair follicle. So if one has 500 follicles transplanted, it would come to around 50000/- to 70000/- for the entire tranplant.

However, if your hair fall is still progressing then it is better to go for PRP first because hair transplant is not done for an evolving androgenetic alopecia because while you may get new hair growth from transplanted hairs your may develop bald patches/hair thinning elsewhere, as your alopecia would still be evolving.

Androgenic Alopecia

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Regaine 5% solution contains 5%minoxidil. Is to be used twice daily, 1 ml each time. Is to be applied at the scalp skin after air drying your hair in morning and then again at night.

Finax 1 mg tab contains Finasteride.

These two should be continued together for 6-8 months for noticeable improvement
