Brief Answer:
Minoxidil doesn't have side effects
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, a dermatologist.
I have gone through your complaints.
Minoxidil doesn't have any side effects apart from mild dryness, redness and itching in few patients.
It doesn't have any systemic side effects.
Infact it is the most effective medicine available for androgenetic alopecia.
Capixyl is not very effective in treating androgenetic alopecia.
PRP is usually given in patients of alopecia not having good results with minoxidil alone.
Even with PRP therapy patient is advised to use minoxidil between the PRP sittings.

Thanks fr the quick reply.I have been advised to use xpecia gel for hair thinning ..which does contain minoxidil.Wld using of minoxidil cause any damage to the existing hairfollicile ?If in case in future i due to have to discontinue use of minoxidil for some or the other reason ? As i did suffer frm seboherric dermatitis fr over two yrs .
Whats are your thoughts abt finasteride .I have read online that that it can be used reduce dht .Is there any alternate finasteride capsule /gel that can be used to control dht and promote hair growth instead of minoxidil. As i have read that minoxidil would have to be used daily once the treatment is commenced .

Brief Answer:
Minoxidil won't damage existing hair follicles
Detailed Answer:
Xpecia gel is fine for hair thinning.
Minoxidil won't cause any damage to existing hair follicles.
We don't have any permanent cure of male pattern baldness.
You will have to use minoxidil till the time you want hair as you will again loose hair 6-9 months after stopping minoxidil.
Finasteride is also good option for hair thinning and loss.
You can take finasteride 1 mg tablet like finax or finpecia 1 mg once daily.
