Suggest Treatment For Anemia During Pregnancy

Question: my wife is pregnant of completed 6 months. Her Hb is 5 during fifth month. we refer to hematology for treatment. he suggested for blood transfusion and some tablets wyesone 40 mg (steroids) after lunch. After Blood transfusion hb value is 9.5. We continue with tablets HB value is 9. After one week HB value is 8.0. We make sonagraphy its shows left foot CTEV deformity and fluid is low. What you suggest for it.

I understand your concern..

In my opinion ,the cause of anemia should be detected by doing a variety of blood test like Iron binding capacity, total iron content, periferal smear which will be done by a hematologist.. Hb electrophoresis need to be done. Stool routine to detect the parasites, urine routine to detect hematuria. Once the cause of anemia is detected, it should be treated first instead of repeated use of iron tablets and blood transfusion..

CTEV can be treated after birth. So you need not worry about it.. Consult a good paediatrician after delivery..

It is said that fluid is low.What is the AFI level? Drink lots of water,rest in left lateral position and intake of high protein diet will help to increase amniotic fluid level. Aminoinfusion for 5 days is another alternative to improve fluid level..

Thank you sir for your answering. All the test suggested by you of iron binding Hb electrophoresis etc all are done by Hematologist. The test reports are normal report shows the WBC count is high and RBC count is low and HB value is low. one thing mam i forget to mention till completion of 6 months vomiting is continuously. No solid food is digested by her if it is taken it is come out by vomiting only liquid is taken by her. m attaching all reports of sonography and HB

Thanks for writing..

I have seen the reports. In this Hb is low. Get a serum ferritin, total iron binding capacity, stool routine, urine routine and Hb electrophoresis also. If already done kindly sent me the reports..

Take one course of albendazole for deworming. Take iron tablets twice daily along with folic acid and Vitamin B12. If she cannot tolerate iron tablet, take iron sucrose injection.

For vomiting, take small quantity of food in frequently. Take it at regular 2 hour interval. Avoid oily and spicy food. Donot force in food which she doesn't like. Take whichever food she prefers. Take rice water with pinch of salt frequently.. She can take ondansetran tablet twice daily before food till vomiting subsides.

Mam doctor has sugessted to take ecosprin and XXXXXXX agri water is it safe to take ecosprin in pregancy

Both tablets has to be taken. Ecospirin helps to increase blood flow to the fetus. It can be used in pregnancy but stopped by 36 weeks or 24 hrs prior to delivery..

Agri water is protein XXXXXXX which help to increase fluid level to an extent..
