Anemia is caused due to various reasons like- decreased production of hemoglobin, increased destruction of red blood cells and blood loss. A complete hemogram and peripheral blood smear examination are required to know the cause of anemia. Complete hemogram and peripheral blood smear are basic and cheap tests which give information about blood parameters. It is available at nearly all labs in government as well as private hospitals.
