Suggest Treatment For Anemia
During regular health checkup, following abnormalities have been found w.r.t. my mother (56 Year). Also she is diabetic and feels bitter taste and mild pain in back of mouth (throat) while swallowing since last few months. Videolaryngoscopy do not indicate anything relevant from Sinus and ENT angle.
Spirometry indicates nothing abnormal. There is little pain on touching left side of throat. She also does get itching and painful sensation in throat on interaction with aerosol based sprays like deodrant, insect killers, room fresheners etc. Whenever there is a coughing sensation, the urge to cough do not goes away easily or with little coughing, it needs a great effort to eliminate that urge.
Test results (abnormal one):
Scattered epithelial cells & occasional polymorphs
RBCs : Normocytic hypochromic with admixed microcytic hypochromic cells
Inadequate Inspiratory effort (Reticular opacities noted in right lower zone of non specific nature. Suggested CT thorax to rule out bronchiectasis lung disease.) (Observation from chest X ray)

CT Thorax: Small nodular lesion measuring 5mm is noted in the anterior segment of right upper lobe. No calcification or necrosis. - possibly represents benign incidental nodule. No other abnormality.
Treat anemia. Strict control of diabetes is needed
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you should not worry much for CT THORAX report. As 5 mm nodule is not harmful. But you need to to follow up with CT THORAX after 6 months. If nodule is same in size or decreasing than nothing to worry. It is benign only.
About blood reports I think she is having Iron deficiency anemia. So iron supplements should be started.
Her diabetes is also not controlled as her HbA1c is high. So sugar levels should be strictly controlled.
And about throat pain, I think she is having upper Respiratory tract infection (URTI). So start macrolide group of antibiotic, antihistamine and anti inflammatory drugs after discussing with your doctor. Ask her to drink plenty of fluids and warm water gargles 5 - 6 times a day.
So no need to worry much for throat pain and back pain. Just start iron supplements and treatment for URTI. Strict control of diabetes is needed.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your mother.
Thanks.
