Suggest Treatment For Ankle Sprain
Question: I had sprained my right ankle about 3 months back. Although the pain and the swelling is gone, sometimes when I put too much strain on my ankle it hurts like the way it did when I sprained it. Could it be a ligament tear? How do I go about with the treatment?
Brief Answer:
I would recommend you to get MRI of the ankle
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have read your question and I believe it can be a ankle ligament injury or may be a cartilage damage inside. It would be better if you get a MRI of the ankle joint to confirm the diagnosis.
This will tell us the correct diagnosis. There are three possibilities.
1. Anterior talofibular ligament injury
2. Deltoid ligament injury
3. Osteochondral injury or ankle synovitis
Since there is pain on stress so chances of ligament injury are more. You can share your MRI with me. Let me know if you want to ask nay other question. Thanks and take care.

Brief Answer:
No to brisk walking
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I would not recommend you to do brisk walking and jogging as both of these has adverse effect on knee joint. You can do normal walking and that too should not be on hard surface.
Thanks.
