Brief Answer:
Drugs like Trazodon or Mirtazapine can be tried.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. You were taking Paroxetine and later Quetiapine was added. The drugs were stopped on seeing improvement and current complaints are insomnia and this is hampering your work.

In such situation benzodiazepines can be used but you used to be addicted to benzodiazepines like alprazolam or lorazepam so I dont think this would be a good idea, plus these medicines will increase the tolerance also. Other options like Trazodon or Mirtazapine can be utilised. These drugs are basically antidepressant drugs but at low doses acts as sleep drugs with excellent effects. Next morning effects are also very minimal. These drugs are not dependence producing and have excellent efficacy. You can consult your doctor for prescription of these drugs. These drugs if used regularly will help in regularising the sleep cycle, help in good sleep and this will help in better effectiveness in work. Both of these drugs are safe to use and are free of serious side effects. These drugs will help to control the mood irritability also.

I'd also advise you to avoid antihistaminics for sleep because these drugs also result in dependence if used for long periods of time. Visit your psychiatrist and discuss about the drugs I have mentioned and try to improve your sleep hygiene and you will see improvement in your symptoms.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.
