Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXX,
I have read your query and it says that you have a diagnosis of PTSD, anxiety and you see a rheumatologist.
You have mentioned taking clonazepam only but that dosent help daytime anxiety.
Its difficult to asess as why your doctor didnt ever put you on a proper anti anxiety meds (which would have solved the issue till now and there would have been no need for clonazepam). However, it is good that you want to go for it now.
Drugs like - sertraline 25-150mg or venalafaxine are good anti anxiety.
For severe anxiety cases I usually go for venalafaxine, starting at 37.5mg to upto 225mg. The effect effect come mostly within 3-7days and there is almost no episode of severe anxiety.
For initial few days one might need sedative at night but gradually this is not required.
The drug venalafaxine or sertraline are non sedative in nature so can be taken in day time as well.
You can discuss the meds with your doctor and start them.
Get your blood pressure checked, and blood tests- suagr fasting, TSH. If these are disturbed, take the necessry meds- it is helpful in early recovery.
Wish you good luck.
