Question: I have arthritic knees that are stable & not inflamed. I am 81 & have recently had P.E.s in both lungs. Would nerve blocks in my knees be a viable option to knee replacement?

Brief Answer:
Yes, local anesthetic's injection is a good option

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Thanks for the query

Yes, Steroid with local anaesthetic injection is a more stable alternative to surgery, considering your age factor and health issues. Total knee replacement is usually reserved for very severe arthritis.

Physiotherapy and muscle strengthening are also valuable.

Please wear a hinged knee brace to percent excessive deformity of the knees.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
