Question: My daughter is 14, has been to an ENT,allergy &asthma specialist, and after months of various meds has fixed her asthma (breathing out) but still has difficulty breathing in & feels she can't catch her breath. What can we do to systematically eliminate the remaining potential causes & help her breathe? She is getting very frustrated as 3 doctors have not been able to solve the problem. We are getting concerned it may be something more serious. Should we be concerned?

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I went through the previous question asked by you wherein you asked:

Medications Tried: Asthma meds, ENT, allergy meds, Prilosec, it is not anxiety related but she is getting enough O2. Nebulizers & inhalers don't help

It seems that you want a second opinion and I will surely try to help you out. You need not type it again if that is what you were asking.

Asthma is a condition triggered by various allergens. Allergens are certain substances or agents that cause allergic reactions. Allergic reactions are improper reactions of the body when it assumes some otherwise-harmless agent to be a harmful one. Asthma is caused due to narrowing of the airways in response to such a reaction of the body. Now, it is really hard to say which items the body is reacting to, since these things are always around us. Simple things like dust and pollens that are everywhere, may trigger such reactions. Hence, prevention in a systematic manner might be really difficult. All you can do is to keenly observe if there is some common thread, some common thing that could be causing such episodes. In such a case avoiding that stimulus is the only thing that you can do.

Montair-LC (contains monteleukast + levocetirizine) is a good medicine that can prevent such episodes from occurring. You may talk to your doctor about this medicine.

Hope that helps.
