Suggest Treatment For Atopic Dermatitis In A Child

atopic dermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com. I have read your query. I understand your concern.
As per details, it seems that your son is having a condition called Atopic dermatitis. It is characterised by generalised dryness of skin associated with itch. Such people experience recurrent rashes over skin which are more common in winter season. Usually it is associated with recurrent cold and cough and family or perwonal history of asthma.
In such cases, I prefer to advise topical application of moisturiser containing squalene esters as main component like Venusia XXXXXXX lotion from Dr XXXXXXX 's.
It should be applied liberally over whole body preferably semi wet body multiple times a day. In acute rash, mild to moderate potency topical steroid like hydrocortisone / mometasone is also given. Oral antihistaminics like levocetrizine are given for symptomatic relief of itch.
Atopic dermatitis in most of the patients starts improving by the age of puberty.
Avoid synthetic clothes or accessories in direct contact with skin. Prefer to use mild soaps or chemical free soaps for bathing.
These small things really so help in improving the condition.
You should visit your doctor so that he can examine your son and give you prescription. You can share my opinion with him. I hope it helps. Take care.
