Suggest Treatment For Back Muscle Spasm

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Sep 2015
Question: Earlier today, I was bending over to put something away in my bathroom cupboard under the sink, and as I was standing up, I ended up with sharp pain in my back through to my chest - in my ribs. Hurts to take a deep breath. Should I be concerned with the possibility of a cracked rib?

No, It isn't a crackd rib. It is rather muscular spasm of the back muscles.

Detailed Answer:
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you to my virtual clinic HCM!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

It is all due to spasm and stretching of the lumbosacral spine muscles of the back. You need proper care and it will all be over soon. It isn't cracked rib. The pain in muscle spasm is usually so severe that it hurts even with breathing, coughing, straining etc. Any activity that makes the muscles move literally hurts a lot.

You need no worry regarding cracked rib. Its all muscular.

PROBABLE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM:-
Muscular spasm due to abrupt pull up and stretching, due to handling or manipulating something away from the center of gravity and weight bearing joints of the body. Avoid bending next time for such tasks. Try to sit down for below the sink manipulations, and for upper area tasks stand on a safe chair.

MANAGEMENT:-
*Avoid heavy weight lifting and stair climbing for some time until you get better.
*Apply Bengay Ultra Stretch Gel topically and massage it gently over the affected area.
*Take Ibuprofen for pain in the morning.
*Nuberol forte in the noon and evening.
*Apply ThermaCare Heat Wrap on the lumbar area of discomfort. It will give you a soothing effect and you will get better fast.

ASSURANCE FOR WELLNESS:-
It is simply spasm of the muscles and will be all OK in a couple of days. so don't worry, keep calm. Rest is the key to fast recovery. Take plenty of fluids and proper healthy diet for recovery. Protein diet is preferred and you know eggs, milk and fish can fulfill this need.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. Keep a follow up some days after this visit session ends.
