Suggest Treatment For Bacterial Vaginosis

I finished my 2 weeks of the antibiotics that the Dr. prescribed for my uti and i am still having a clear discharge. The discharge is not as much as it was before but it is still there.. Does this mean that the infection is still present if there is still discharge? I went to the Dr. 2 days ago and he performed another swab test and said he will give me a call if the lab detects an infection and if i didnt recieve a call that i was infection free.. However when i went to the dr. there was no discharge present so he swabbed some urine that was dribbling out from my urethra.. Please let me know what i should do if i dont recieve a call from my dr and i still have discharge.. Is it normal to have discharge even after curing a uti? Also i would like to mention that the dr told me that the first time he did the swab test that the lab detected a bacteria ( i forgot the name) he said it causes bladder and prostate infections. He mentioned the bacteria didnt come from my sexual encounter.. Could this bacteria come from a condom or a perfumed soap? Please advise
Thank You
Bacterial vaginosis vs. STI
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your question.
It is possible to still have a clear discharge after treatment for an UTI but it should resolve in a few weeks after you have finished the treatment. The discharge (if it is clear) can be from inflammation that takes a while to resolve after treating an infection.
If your follow up tests are negative then you probably do not have a gonorrhea or chlamydia. The swab tests do not check for syphillis or HIV so if you are concerned about a STI (sexually transmitted infection) then you should ask for those tests. They are blood tests. The condoms and soap would not cause a bacterial infection but there are bacteria on our skin all the time and sometimes a normal skin bacteria can cause an infection.
See you doctor again if you want the blood tests done or if you develop pain with urination or white or yellow discharge.
I hope you are well soon.

I have already done igg blood tests for hiv and hsv 1&2 at the 3 month period which came back nagative. My uroligist said i have nothing to worry about as the igg test would have detected antibodies at the 3 month stage. what are your professional opinions on the accuracy of a 3 month igg test? Please advise
Thank You
I agree
Detailed Answer:
Hello again. yes I agree that if this test is negative at 3 months after an exposure it is very reliable. The current recommendation for possible HIV exposure is testing at the time of exposure and then again in 3 months. The three month IgG test is very reliable
