Suggest Treatment For Bad Itchy Sore Throat
Question: I started with a bad sore throat and very achy. The advil,tylenol, and honey with lemon helped the throat but now I have a cough and some phlegm Should I be concerned or is this just part of the virus? No fever at any point.

The cough with expectoration is because of the inflammation in the pharyngeal wall and the sinuses.
Do not worry! This is a part of viral infection. As the infection in the throat is almost subsiding, you can try taking symptomatic medicines such as bromhexine and ambroxol to relieve the secretions and the cough. These medicines are available under various brand names.
1. Drink plenty of warm water.
2. Avoid chilled food and beverages/coffee/smoking.
3. Watch for 3-4 days; if the symptoms do not subside then you will have to start broad spectrum antibiotics.
