Suggest Treatment For Bad Stomach
Question: My son who is 8years old is facing a bad stomach more or less from the past one year...when he takes medicines he s fine and after a few days again loose motions start..which he frequents 2-3times in a day...last year i got all his tests done which came out perfectly alright...
He has to go for a school trip on tuesday and i am giving him powergyl syrup..so wanted to know what is the right amount of medicine that i should give and how many times...besides this any other medicine that he should carry along..

You can give 3.5 ml twice daily which would be ideal at this age.
But do remember that powergyl has to be taken only when stool test is positive for bacteria or protozoa.
Regarding the persistent problem i think it could be irritable bowel syndrome , for which you need to consult a gastroenterologist for further tests and colonoscopy if required.
For my patient in this scenario, I would also prescribe electrolyte solution (eg electrobion, pedialyte), probiotics mainly.
