Question: I have a bad smell which seems stuck in my nose that then turns in to a bad taste in my mouth. I recently had a tooth pulled and I am wondering if that is what is causing it? Or is this something that will pass as the socket heasls? csed

Brief Answer:
Chlorhexidine mouth gently swish with it twice a day for at least a week.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.
Bad breath after a tooth extraction is not unusual and improves as the area heals. This is because of slight bleeding that occurs and you can not brush thoroughly as it may disrupt the healing.

If I was treating you, I would have asked you to gently rinse with warm salt water after 2 days of extraction. I also would have prescribed you Chlorhexidine, mouth wash, gently swish with it twice a day for at least a week.

This measures should reduce your symptoms. If it persists a condition known as dry socket should be ruled out and for these you have to see dentist for confirmation. I won't be able to comment on it without examining you.

Yet , again I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely,
