Suggest Treatment For Bilateral Paralysis In Knee Joints
Question: I have bilateral paralysis below knee joints for almost two years. I had a doppler ultrasound should moderately blocked iliac arteries both legs. Previous ultrasound in 2013 was normal. Can this be caused by lack of movement n the paralysis?
Brief Answer:
Lack of movement can cause thrombus formation

Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.
I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Can you please recheck and confirm if blockage was in iliac arteries or veins? Both have different outcomes. Lack of movement can cause thrombus formation in deep veins if legs which can dislodge and cause serious problems. In case blockage is in arteries, immediate intervention is required to prevent tissue damage.
Thank You

its called plaque? And it's in the arteries moderate plaque. The doctor talked about concern is if it breaks off can go to my heart or brain. Talked about statin drugs but concerned about taking Crestor after my paralysis that occurred but we don't know why I became paralyzed 6 hours after lumbar puncture bilaterally below knees.

Hello
Thank you for getting back. I'm sorry for the problem you are suffering at the moment. Yes plague can dislodge from its location and can cause sever damage specially to heart, lungs & brain. It causes occlusion of vessel resulting in ischemia and death of that particular tissue. Medicines are given to dissolve it.
While doing lumbar puncture(LP), needle can sometimes damage specific nerves which transmits motor fibers to lower limb(leg) muscles resulting in damage which causes paralysis.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health & smooth recovery !!
