Suggest Treatment For Bilateral Tingling Sensations On The Limbs
I have an MRI of the cervical and thoracic spine tomorrow.
I've have been in 3 car accidents in the last 3 years as well.
I also do have family history of arthritis and a half sister who had MS.
Do you know what could be causing the tingling in my hands and feet?
Read below.
Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Tingling in the hands and feet can have several causes. Given your history of multiple motor vehicle accidents one possibility which should be explored would be damage of the spine with compression of the spinal cord from bulging discs or bony spurs. The accidents make you more prone to such cervical spine arthritic changes. Since the MRI is the best exam to visualize such spinal cord involvement I completely agree about the need to have the MRI you mention.
If the MRI findings turns out do not justify the symptoms then peripheral neuropathy would be the next possibility, damage to the peripheral nerves. The most appropriate exam to evidence such peripheral nerve damage would be nerve conduction studies.
I remain at your disposal for further questions.
