Brief Answer:
2 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

It is very unfortunate to get a tear in the frenulum, it is a highly vascular organ and also very rich in nerve supply.
It will take about 2 weeks for the pain to subside however stinging sensation will last for another 4 weeks

The precautions you must take are
1. Wear loose boxer type cotton underwear
2. Keep the area clean and moisture free
3. Watch for change in color of the wound and also pus formation
4. Watch out for fever
5. Make sure to wipe the area with a good anti septic like dettol atleast twice a day
6. Avoid sexual intercourse until you are better
7. Tab paracetamol can be used twice daily for pain.
8. Tab amox with clavulanic acid twice daily is the ideal antibiotic for this, however if the area is not infected there is no need to start antibiotic.

I suggest you to approach a general surgeon for evaluation of the wound as soon as possible.

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Hello

Thanks for getting back

You can know that it is infected if
1. It is red and swollen
2. Increase in pain
3. Pus oozing out
4. Foul odor

The pain while pulling up the foreskin is because of the wound

You can keep it moist free by wear loose boxer type underwear and cleaning it with soap and water twice daily followed by wiping it with a clean, dry gauze piece ( you can get gauze pieces from the pharmacy

You can apply neosporin but a better ointment would be mupirocin for this kind of wound.

I hope i was of help
