Question: Some blood from anus. More tonight than typical. Occurring over the past three months. No pain to speak of mild irritation. Not every day but might be increasing. Concerned.

Brief Answer:
May be haemorrhoids, confirm by proctoscopy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your query.
What is the color of it, is it bright red colored or dark.

From the information provided by you or looks like Haemorrhoids, these are swollen blood vessels in the rectum or anus. These can cause bleeding when passing stools, an itchy feel around the anus.

I would have done proctoscopy to confirm it.

The most important thing is to keep the stools soft. Initially after examination I would have suggested you dietary modification like have plenty of fresh fruits like banana and vegetable. Avoid non-veg like fish, eggs and chicken for the time being. Have a good fibre diet.Any good fibre diet is not good unless you drink plenty of water to encourage good bowel movements. So make sure your friend drinks plenty of water.

I would have prescribed you anusol cream for local application, but after confirmation of haemorrhoids. If your still are hard would have considered stool softener.

You go for dietary modification and I would suggest you to see doctor for confirmation of haemorrhoids, then go for local application of ointment.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
