Question: I have been bleeding from my left tear duct for the last two nights. The first night was significant, the second only minor. No soreness of my tear duct, eyes feel fine, slight headache but not enough for pain relief. Not on any medication, non smoker/drinker, otherwise quite healthy 43yo female

Brief Answer:
Tear duct bleeding or Hemolacria

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have recently noted blood coming from your tear ducts. The most common cause of this is bleeding within the nose. Since the tear duct is connected to the nose if you have dryness and bleeding in your nose it can travel up the tear duct.

Another cause is a condition called telangiectasia. This is where the blood vessels in the tear duct are abnormally dilated and can bleed with minor trauma like rubbing your eye. This is benign but maybe a congenital abnormality and recur.

Either way these are benign conditions and should cause you no additional problems
