Suggest Treatment For Blister On Penis

Posted on Tue, 14 Jul 2015
Question: I recently developed a large watery blister on the head of my penis that was about the size of a nickel/quarter. I popped it and the outer layer of skin came off. Now, even using neosporin and bandages, it doesn't seem to be healing. It's not getting worse, but it's not getting better. At times it leaks additional plasma. I haven't seen my dr yet but have an appt soon. Thoughts on what it could be? I exercise a lot and originally thought it was chafing from running. However I now think it is either some form of athletes foot/jock itch or herpes. It was one very large blister. Not a cluster of small ones.

See attached pictures. I just took them. The skin was sensitive on 6/14. The blister resented itself fully when i woke up on 6/16. I have unprotected sex with my partner. I was just tested in early april for the 8 main STDs including herpes I and II. Ive had oral herpes since my youth. My partner tested positive for genital herpes last year but shows no signs or any outbreaks. Thats why ive been tested this year. No illegal drugs. I did begin to take Aleve in the week proor to the blister to help with post-exercise pain and pain from diagnosed arthritis. Ive since stopped taking it as a aide effect could bw skin erruptions. We have used the same sexual lubricant for years. I do not think that would be it. No other oils or anything else topical in that region. Thoughts?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Herpes to be considered

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dear Sir

There is errosive Balanitis (inflammation of glans). There could be many causes including sexually transmitted disease like Herpes.

I would suggest you the following

1. Examination of scrapping of the lesion and thorough workout to rule out STD especially herpes

2. Thorough evaluation and assessment by your Physician for you and your partner

3. Stop local application of Neosporin Ointment or any other cream

Kindly provide me following information too

1. Do you have any oral ulcers?

2. Is the lesion over penis painful?

Kindly keep me updated about development. I do follow up with my patients till they are fine

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life

I met with my doctor last night. He swabbed the sore and is culturing for herpes but doesnt think it is that. He thinks it may be siphyllis and is testing for that as well. I should know more tomorrow. It is painful to the touch but when under a bandage, there is no discomfort. It appears to be healing but very very slowly. I have stopped the neosporin because he said there is no trace of bacterial infection.

This is the last message this app will allow me to send. If you want to stay in touch, please email me directlyat YYYY@YYYY .

Thank you for your time and thoughts.
