Suggest Treatment For Blockage In The Right Ear

Question: hello doctor,

from yesterday evening, I feel my right ear is blocked and it's quite annoying. I have not taken head shower for the past 2 days. I don't have any pain or ringing sound. what should be my next steps.

Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

I can understand your concern.

Following are the possibilities for the blockage in the ear:
1.)Wax in the ear canal.
In such a case ,you may use wax solvent ear drops for a few days,so that the wax can liquefy and come out easily.
2.)Ear blockage due to Nasal Infection like Common cold.
Nose and ear are connected by a tube called Eustachian tube.This tube helps in equalization of the middle ear pressure with the outer atmospheric pressure.This tube may get blocked in case of Common cold.Due to this,the middle ear pressure is not able to remain equal with the outer pressure and this leads to nasal blockage.
If this is your case,then you may find relief by taking following medications:
Oral decongestant like Pseudoephedrine and nasal decongestant drops like Oxymetazoline,
Oral Antihistaminic like Levocetrizine.
Also do steam inhalation.
3.)Fungal infection in the outer ear.
It is generally caused by water going inside ear,or self cleaning of ear.

It would be advisable to consult an ENT specialist doctor for the examination of your ear,and hearing test called Pure tone Audiogram(if found necessary).
In case of Fungus infection or wax,the doctor will help by cleaning your ear .

hello doctor, thanks for the diagnosis. I had cold for couple of weeks and i am almost cured now. I will consult the ENT specialist today and will update on the findings
