Most upper respiratory tract infections are of viral origin and are self limiting. I suggest the following things
1. Supervised steam inhalation three times daily
2. Salt water gargling with warm water three times daily
3. Tab levocetrizine at night will help decongest the nose and also soothe the throat
4. Antibiotics can be started if fever persists for more than 2 days
5. Avoid spicy food , milk and milk products
6. Avoid oily food

For supportive treatment I would like you to give tab paracetamol 500 mg not more than three times daily.
syp ambrolite 2 tsp three times daily can be given for cough, it is a milk sedative
