Question: I got punched in the eye (small fractures around socket according to CT taken after getting punched) it was a very hard running punch and caused my eye to be purple and swell shut for 2 days. I have been coughing up blood (thick mucus like) since the day after it happened. Is this normal? (not being punched, because trust me that is NOT normal for me at all)

You have noticed coughing up blood after having a blow out fracture of your orbit socket. The blood that you are coughing up is actually from the sinuses located around your eye socket. The fracture caused bleeding into the sinuses and that blood is now dripping down from you nose into your upper respiratory tract. This should stop any day now. It will take a few days for the congealed blood to gravitate to your throat. There is nothing to worry about here.
