Suggest Treatment For Body Pain In An Elderly
Question: Dear Doc - This is with regards to my mother who is 71 , CABG , CKD , Diabetic and obese . She leads a very sedentary lifestyle and undergoes physiotherapy on a daily basis . To manage her body pain , she takes ULTRACET + DOLO 650 . I sense that now these medicines are not providing her the relief that it should . May I request an alternative safe killer , which could provide her some relief . We have even tried TRAMADOL injection and VOVERAN injection , with little or no relief . Please do advice a safe pain killer which can replace ULTRACET ?
Brief Answer:
Hi, Fentanyl patch is ideal
Detailed Answer:
Hi, if you ve tried all the above med n still not getting relief, you could go for a fentany transdermal patch ( it is just like a sticker) 25 micrograms, applied on a non hairy dry skin. One patch usually lasts 72 hrs.
Watch for allergic reactions and sleep and respiratory pattern. Though safe, may cause respiratory depression.
