Question: My brother worked the clean up at the WTC towers. more than 12 years later he developed a tumor in his pelvis that spread to his bones, Or they were calling it bone cancer. I know he said it sound like plastic is in the technical name fr it, it also began by Shredding the nerves in his legs, the Doctors at XXXXXXX Isreal Hospital in NYC were baffeled so reffered him the the Mayo clinic which also did not discover the cancer and with a bunch of cocktails he was not doing much better. a week after he returned from the Mayo clinic he wound up witha high fever and an infection where they took the 2nd biposy to see how the shredded nerves were reacting from all the medications they had him on, it was only until he went to the er in Middletown NY that they discovered a tumor in his pelvis, a blood clot in his leg and now he is in radiation fora course of 25 treatments. we believe it was caused by the clean up at the 9/11 WTC AS HE WAS waist deep in both towers for aprox 5 days taking down the escalators. do you think you might be able to tell me the name of this cancer by the little bit of informatin I was able to tell you about and wht you think the prognoses is. these Doctore in Middle town said once the cancerous tumor is gone the nerves in his legs will regenerate and he should do well.

Brief Answer:
Chondrosarcoma.

Detailed Answer:
From the information you gave the most common type of bone cancer is the chondrosarcoma which is a cancer that starts in the cartilage cells. The most common place that they form is in the pelvis. This is called a primary tumor meaning it started in the bone.

Other types of bone cancer is multiple myeloma or cancers that have metastasis from other locations of which prostate cancer is the most common in men.
