This has went on for 4 full weeks. The symptoms have changed slightly from the roller coaster feeling to a gurgling. And still diarrhea. Its abot 5 or 6 bm's a day. All diarrhea.
My doctor prescribed zantac. But I dont have any acid reflux?
Im concerned. My stools are a light brown/yellowish. Occasionally they smell more foul than normal.
Please help :(
looks like bowel infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your query and understand your concern. Based on your description, you seem to be having bowel infection, gastroenteritis. And as this is not getting controlled with the probiotics alone, I would start you on a course of antibiotics for the same.
You may take drugs like metronidazole or ornidazole along with a fluoroquinolone group of drug for enhanced coverage like norfloxacin or ofloxacin. But for the prescription you need to see your local physician. Your doctor may ask for stool tests before prescribing it.
You may continue the probiotics (Align, Acidophillous) along with it for an early response. You may also continue zantac as those antibiotics might cause acidity.
Hope that i have been helpful.

I wanted to add that the stool isnt ALWAYS diarrhea. But it is sometimes soft.. flakey... and sometimes with white peices in it (possibly parts of undigested food).
Also some slight abdominal stabbing pains. Very minor. But these are things I thought may or may not be inportant to the full picture?
Eating a meal will always bring forth a loose stool.
Thanks
could be worm infestations
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
We should also consider possibility of worm infestation. The white things in your stools could be due to worm. And worm infestation could be the cause of your chronic bowel disturbance.
I would suggest that you get yourself dewormed by taking drugs like albendazole or similar in consultation with your local doctor.
And your stools are not always diarrhea because you have been taking probiotics which will control that most of the time.
