Suggest Treatment For Brittle Fingernails
Likely to be age related.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I can understand your concern of breaking finger nails.
Many time after the age of 50-60 years there is less absorption of vitamins, minerals and proteins due to less absorptive capacity by our intestine due to aging process. Accordingly I feel this nail issue is secondary to age related event only.
If feasible, I will suggest you to kindly go for complete blood hemogram with ESR, serum ferritin, total proteins and other relevant investigations. This might help us if you have any other treatable condition of nail breaking.
In the meanwhile a well-balanced diet will correct and prevent deficiency.
In my patients,I prefer a tablet containing Acetylcysteine, Calcium Pantothenate, Selenium, Zinc, Biotin, Copper as active ingredients.
You can start with multivitamin tablets once or twice per day after meals.
Additionally take iron supplementation daily to replenish iron reserve.
Your condition will take few months to improve to its best.
I hope these informations will help you. If you have further queries I will be happy to help.
Regards,
