Swelling in the legs could mean that either your heart or the kidneys have become weak.
Broken ribs and muscle injury can sometimes release toxins which can lead to kidney injury. I recommend you to do the following
1. Please approach your GP and get complete blood count, urine routine and renal function test done
2. Do not engage in strenuous activities until you are better
3. Do not ignore this matter

Thank you thats pretty much what i was thinking. I also had spinal fusion surgery 3/27/15 L4 & 5 aligned only by 1/3 of inch. An emergency rom visit 5/10/15 did thorough testing due to weird spine pain at thoracic level. My Troponin-T level was at upper limit 0.010 somehow i believe this is related to my current condition.
