Suggest Treatment For Bronchial Asthma
Question: Hello, I am a 37 year old male who has never smoked or worked in the mining industry. I was told by the GP when a chest x Ray was done that my lungs had "CPOD type modelling" and blackening. There was no TB and the spit tests had confirmed. The Gp had indicated that the blackening could perhaps be explained by the air pollution in XXXXXXX (where I am originally from). I have had asthma and associated treatments through out my life although not on any medication other than the Ventolin inhaler when I do get some wheezing now and then. This is now an issue because I have to undergo a medical test in Qatar for residence permit. I almost certain (reading in experiences online of others) that this is likely to be assumed as TB and rejected. Any thoughts please?

Thanks for posting the query on HCM. After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:
1. You seem to be a diagnosed case of bronchial asthma.
2. You need to visit a pulmonologist for further evaluation which includes investigations like blood examination, serum IgE levels, Pulmonary function test and if required CT scan of the thorax. Mantoux test is routinely done for visa purposes.
3. From the information provided, it does not look like TB at present.
4. However if you are having problems in the visa procedure due to this then you may visit the chest medicine department of a government hospital and apply for a medical certificate from them.
