Suggest Treatment For Brownish Discharge During 8th Week Of Pregnancy

Question: Hi Dr.
I am just 8 weeks pregnant today via IVF, I am 43 years old. Blood levels have been good and my last ultrasound Wednesday showed a good heartbeat, heartbeat was first seen last week. I am now taking progesterone 200 mg and estradiol 2 mg in the morning, my dr. has been decreasing my meds. my question is: this morning after a bowel movement i noticed after i wiped there brownish specks in my discharge. What could this be and is this normal? Thank you in advance.

I understand your concern.

Get a scan done repeated tomorrow to see for fetal cardiac activity and to see for any subchorionic bleed. If everything is normal, just take good bed rest with progesterone support. If there is a subchorionic hemorrhage, a close observation would be necessary with follow up scan.

Dont worry. Avoid stress and tension. Drink adequate fluids and take adequate rest (this is must). Eat healthy.

I have an ultrasound done wednesday night and all was well, good heartbeat etc. could there still be trouble? I had blood work done this morning.
