Question: One week ago I underwent right inguial hernia surgery. I went to the surgeon yesterday and he said everything was fine, however, I just noticed a small purple area forming below the surgical incision. A couple of hours ago, I lifted two small bags of groceries-I didn't think they weighed more that 5 or six pounds. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Likely bruise. This weight can be taken if not avoidable, with gentle care.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly.

* Seems to be likely a bruise formation below the incision.

* Narrated weight can be taken after this period of time, but with utmost gentle
care ( not much bending, trying to eliminate direct stretching over the operated-
part like semi sitting on the floor over legs with gentle motion standing, without
hurry)
- advisable to avoid till possible, for few more days, as it was a large
a hernia operated and much tissue dissection is predictable.

Kindly provide further details so that I can answer your query completely.

1. Purple area - size.
2. Local site redness, itching, pain, discharge of any fluid material.
3. Fever, if any.
4. Bowel movements smooth.
5. If possible and no objection, a high-resolution photograph of the purple area
would be of great help for better insight.
6. Could you please rec-check if you've listed all the medicines, there is no antibiotic mentioned, so asked.

Awaiting your response...

Regards
