Suggest Treatment For Bump In Occipital Area And Headache

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: Month ago I noticed a painless bump where my occipital bone is located. I had a cat scan that didn't show anything. I went to dermatologist who told me there is nothing she can do. She ordered me a skull xray that didn't show anthing besides a boney bone. Nervous bc I know I never had this bump before. I keep touching it & now I feel some pressure. Slight headache. No other symptoms. Am I worrying myself & or should I see another Dr. I do suffer from anxiety/panic that doesn't help me.

Non serious cyst as CT scan is normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your carefully and it could be benign (non serious) lesion most likely sebaceous cyst or lipoma.if it is bothering you much get it removed surgically. If possible send the picture of lesion in follow up query.
Looking forward to your reply.
Take care

Hello
if it was sebaceous cyst.. wondering why Dermatologist couldn't do anything.? What Dr. would I go to, to get it removed? it's bothering me knowing it is there & being able to feel it. I took pictures but it shows normal skin.. not the bump?

Brief Answer:
Lump is not visible on picture

Detailed Answer:
Hello
It’s good to see you
As I told you the possibilities (sebaceous cyst, lipoma, lymph node enlargement), these can easily be dealt by general surgeon. I really cannot say anything regarding the dermatologist being not able to give you a diagnosis. Ask someone to look for a dimple at the lump, as it is suggestive of sebaceous cyst.
I am very sure, you will get over it. A visit to General surgeon will help.
Take care
