Suggest Treatment For Bump On Arm
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Hello,
I have had this bump on my arm for about 8 months or so now. My doctor, about 5 months ago, gave it a quick look and said to be sure of what it was he'd have to send a biopsy to the lab, but he didn't seemed to concerned. I'm 24, seemingly healthy, just started working out heavily and feel good. But I don't know what the bump is!
It has a whitehead that sometimes sheds off. Once, recently, the head came off and it bled for awhile and then stopped. After the bleeding it did not disappear, but just seemed to heal and reappear. It has not gotten bigger or changed much in it's appearance. I'm seeing my general health care doctor on XXXXXXX 8th. Do I have reason to go in before then? Should I be worried? What could it be? Could it be cancer????
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Cyst
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the good description and pictures.
At the outset it appears to be an infected sebaceous cyst. The white head is at the point of the duct of the sebaceous gland (oil producing gland on the epidermis) of the skin. When the duct gets blocked, the bacteria inside the cyst will grow and have a good ground to multiply.
Warm compresses and antiseptic cream are right now the way to go. Once the wound is healed you can get this cyst removed by a small procedure by a General surgeon.
You should not be worried about this turning into cancer. I suggest you to directly meet a General surgeon and not general health doctor whenever you get the appointment.
Hope this answers.
