Suggest Treatment For Bump On Head After An Accident
I would recommend as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I understand your concern and would explain that it is true that you are at a higher risk of intracranial bleeding ( compared to persons who don't take aspirin) because of aspirin intake coupled with the head trauma you had.
Did you loose conscience when bumping the head?
Do you notice any bump or bruise on your head?
Do you have any symptoms like dizziness, nausea, headache, blurring vision, etc.?
I would recommend having some rest and closely monitoring your blood pressure.
If your headache or other symptoms do not improve in the next hours and days , or even worsen, I recommend going to the ER for a physical exam and a brain CT scan to exclude a delayed intracranial hemorrhage.
Meanwhile, try to relax, avoid straining physical activities or a possible repeated trauma and monitor your blood pressure.
Painkillers like acetaminophen can help in case of headache.
Hope to have been helpful!
Feel free to ask any other questions, whenever you need!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
Did not loose conscience
No dizzy,no nausea ,no blurred vision
Anxiety because of the asprin being a blood thinner.I am 60 and have recently had 3 migraines in the past 6 months. All had auras, tingly in fingers and some speaking issues more memory related. Each of these symptoms last 20 minutes making the whole time 60 minutes . Then feel awalful after that for 5-7 days. My internet suggest the 81 asprin everyday
Because migraines with auras run the risk of stroke . True or false. My carotid is clear I just had an ultrasound done. Am I a candidate for a spin therapy? When do you respond to the follow up questions?
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello again!
Thank you for the additional information provided.
Regarding the three episodes of migraine with aura, I agree with starting aspirin, as they hold the risk of a future stroke. Aspirin is the best preventive therapy in this case.
Your Doppler ultrasound has excluded possible carotid stenosis, which could be related to these episodes (low blood flow to the brain).
So these episodes could be explained by the vessel contraction (vasospasm) which is a feature of migraine attacks with aura.
I would not recommend stop taking aspirin. I would recommend continuing it, because the benefits of aspirin intake in this case are much more than the possible risk of bleeding.
You should know that small trauma carry a really low risk of hemorrhage. The fact that you didn't loose your concience and you didn't have a head concussion (with loss of conscience) and you are not experiencing any other symptoms like blurring vision, dizziness, nausea, etc. indicates that there is nothing to worry about.
From the other hand aspirin is a antiplatelet agent, which carries a lower risk of hemorrhage , especially compared to anticoagulants.
I recommended you to closely monitor your blood pressure, because after a head concussion the physiological ability of the brain vessels to autoregulate, non depending from blood pressure is temporary in imbalance. That is why, having a normal blood pressure, would help avoid headache and other symptoms.
But as you refer, based on your symptoms, you have suffered a minor head trauma, without signs of any head concussion.
There is nothing to worry about!
Just relax!
Hope to have been of help!
