Question: My 2 year old knocked the back of her head (under the Base of the skull) VERY hard against a flat hard surface. She didn't cry but was silent for about three minutes. I can't feel any swelling on the outside. Would there be any internal damage? What should I look out for?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to have any internal brain damage.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted the details of your 2 year old daughter.

Based on the description, there is very little risk of internal brain damage.

You should watch for vomiting, poor feeding, drowsiness, fits, etc. If any of these develop, you should probably go to the ER and get a brain CT scan done. Otherwise, there is no need to worry.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
