Suggest Treatment For Buried Penis After Circumcision

default
Posted on Wed, 30 Sep 2015
Question: My baby is 11 months old now. Circumcision was done at the age of 2 months. Few months later, we realized that his penis size is not growing proportionately to his age. When consulted the Pediatric Surgeon, he suggested that gland is growing from inside as the preputial skin was not removed completely during the initial circumcision and therefore repeat circumcision has to be done.

I want to confirm from the experts whether repeat circumcision would help the penis to grow not causing any deformity.

Kindly advise.

Brief Answer:
The decision can be taken after clinical examination

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

I can understand your concern.Buried penis(penis not growing properly) can be a rare side effect of improper circumcision(when excess of foreskin has been removed or in some cases when skin was not removed properly).
As this is not a very common condition the decision can be taken only by direct examination and under surgeon guidance.
I would like to get an opinion from another pediatric surgeon(who can make a decision whether repeat surgery is needed on not by direct examination) also before going for repeat circumcision.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more query.
Regards
